A different approach to pain

Treating more than the sore spot

Back pain is one of the most common reasons people try acupuncture. Very fine needles are placed at chosen points, both near where it hurts and elsewhere on the body, to help the muscles release and support your body's own healing.

Brianna Del Vecchio is a New York State Licensed Acupuncturist and Massage Therapist with a particular interest in muscle and joint pain. She looks for the root cause of what you're feeling and treats your body as a whole, so your plan isn't the same as anyone else's.

Results vary from person to person. Some clients feel better after a few sessions, while long-standing pain can take more time. We'll be honest with you about what we're seeing as we go.

Where it's used

Back problems we commonly see

Acupuncture is commonly used for these concerns, and it can work alongside the care you already receive.
  • Lower back pain

Ongoing aches and stiffness, whether from work, lifting or simply years of wear.

  • Sciatica

Pain that travels from the lower back or hip down the leg.

  • Muscle tension and spasm

Tight bands of muscle across the back and shoulders that won't release.

  • Pain that keeps coming back

Flare-ups that return after each round of stretches, rest or medication.

Your first visit

How treatment works

  1. A full consultation

Your 60-minute initial visit starts with your pain, health history and goals. Bring a list of your medications and supplements.

  2. Your first treatment

Brianna places sterile, single-use needles and you rest on a comfortable table. Most people feel a mild tingle or slight pinch.

  3. Follow-up visits

45-minute follow-ups build on your first session. Brianna may add cupping or massage if it suits you.

  4. Check your progress

We'll talk through what's changing and adjust your plan, so you always know where you stand.

Acupuncture doesn't replace medical care. See a doctor right away if your back pain follows an accident or fall, or comes with numbness in the groin area, loss of bladder or bowel control, new leg weakness or fever.
