Acupuncture for migraines and headaches

When headaches keep interrupting your week, acupuncture is a calm, personalized way to look for what's behind them.

Looking for patterns

Every headache has a story

Two people with the same diagnosis can have very different headaches. One starts in tight shoulders. Another follows poor sleep, a stressful week or a hormonal cycle. That's why your first visit spends real time on your history before any needles are placed.

Acupuncture is often used with the aim of reducing how often headaches happen and how much they get in the way. Points may be placed on the head, neck, hands and feet, depending on your pattern.

Headaches are one of the concerns Brianna Del Vecchio is most passionate about treating. She can also bring in massage or cupping for neck and shoulder tension when it's part of the picture.

What we look at

Common headache patterns

Keeping a simple note of when your headaches happen can be a big help at your first visit.
  • Migraines

Recurring attacks, with or without aura, often with triggers worth tracking together.

  • Tension headaches

A tight band around the head, often linked to the neck, jaw and shoulders.

  • Stress-related headaches

Headaches that build through a hard week and ease once you can finally relax.

  • Sleep and hormone links

Patterns tied to poor rest or to changes during your monthly cycle.

Your first visit

How treatment works

  1. Share your pattern

Your 60-minute initial visit covers how often you get headaches, likely triggers, past treatments and your medications.

  2. Rest during treatment

Fine, single-use needles are placed and you rest quietly. Many people find this part deeply relaxing.

  3. Follow-up visits

45-minute follow-ups keep your progress consistent, and the plan changes as your pattern changes.

  4. Track what changes

We'll look at how often your headaches come and how strong they are, so you can see whether treatment is helping.

Keep taking any medication your doctor has prescribed unless they tell you otherwise. Get emergency care for a sudden, severe headache, or a headache with weakness, confusion, trouble speaking, vision loss, fever or a stiff neck.

First-timer's view

New to acupuncture?

“I tried acupuncture for the first time and was not nervous at all.”

Brianna is very professional, considerate, and makes you feel absolutely comfortable and relaxed! I tried acupuncture for the first time and was not nervous at all. She is a natural at her work, and I highly recommend her to anyone in need of wellness treatment. I will definitely be going back regularly for massages and will continue acupuncture sessions.

FAQs

Common questions

  • Can acupuncture help with migraines?

Many people use acupuncture to help manage migraines, often with the goal of having fewer of them. Results vary, so we'll talk through your history and what to expect at your first visit.

  • Can acupuncture help with tension headaches?

Acupuncture is commonly used for tension headaches, and it can help relax tight muscles in the neck and shoulders that often play a part.

  • Should I stop my migraine medication?

No. Don't change any medication without talking to your doctor. Acupuncture can generally complement your other care, so please bring a full list of what you take.

  • Can I come in during a migraine?

If you're mid-migraine and able to travel, call us at (631) 464-6408 and we'll talk through what makes sense. Many people schedule regular visits between attacks.

  • How long until I know whether it's working?

Many clients feel relaxed right after a session, but changes in a headache pattern take longer to see. Keeping a simple headache log makes progress easier to track.
